Camp
In general please remember something will go wrong at the Jamboree. It is the Contingent Management Team’s job to manage and resolve foreseeable issues. When things we weren’t expecting happen, remember you will be camping in an amazing location, on a beautiful lake, surrounded by other Scouts from around the world in Iceland! And the Jamboree will be typhoon free!
and the things we don’t.
The following are a list of questions that have been sent to the Icelandic Jamboree Camp Chief. The Camp Chief has committed to answering the questions, and agreed to a meeting with our CMT. We will update the things we know, and hopefully reduce the things we don’t know soon! Any new questions sent to [email protected] will be added here!

- All participants and IST’s are responsible for their own travel to Iceland.
- All IST’s will meet at the Keflavik Airport (KEF) the morning of July 10th (possibly 9th) for the bus transfer to Úlfljótsvatn Scout Centre.
- All Leaders and youth participants will meet at the Keflavik Airport (KEF) the morning of July 12th for the bus transfer to Úlfljótsvatn Scout Centre.
- The bus transfer may also make a stop in a yet to be determined location in or near Reykjavik.
- The bus transfer from Keflavik airport and Úlfljótsvatn Scout Centre is about 90 minutes.
- The bus transfer does not include any rest stops, and there is no washroom on the bus, be prepared!
- On July 19th the bus transfer will take Leaders and participants to the Reykjavik stop or to the Keflavik Airport.
- On July 21st the bus transfer will take IST’s to the Reykjavik stop or to the Keflavik Airport.
- All contingent members flying in the morning of their respective transfer to camp will be expected to wear their Canadian Contingent shirt and necker upon arrival.
- If you are flying in early to explore before camp, meet the transfer at either location with your contingent shirt and necker.
- To date, there is no confirmation of day trips off site during the Jamboree. We strongly encourage patrols and groups to explore the country either before or after the Jamboree.
International Service Team (Offers of Service)
- IST meetings with the camp staff will begin in January.
- IST’s will work one or two shifts of 2 to 4 hours each, with at least one full day off.
- IST food will be provided by the camp cafeteria style.
- IST provided meals start at lunch July 10th and finish July 21st at lunch.
- Tents will be provided for all IST’s. (It may still be a good idea to take your own tent and be in control of your environment!)
- There will be an IST area at the camp for IST’s to camp. However IST’s can camp with their patrol.
- IST’s can arrive at camp July 10th, and help with setup on the 10th. There will be a welcome campfire on the 10th, and training on the 11th.
- Leaders can share IST/Patrol duties (eg, Leader A with the patrol for the first half of camp and IST for the second half, Leader B the reverse) however both leaders need to be on site for the training day July 11th.
Camp
- There is a map of the scout centre on our website showing the camping sites and activities available.
- Due to logistics and numbers, our patrols will not be camping with an Icelandic patrol. We are anticipating our patrols will be camping in small groups of 2-4 patrols spread throughout the camp. This will encourage integration with the other patrols in the camp.
- Individuals will be able to bring their own sleeping tent, or rent tents from the Ulfljotsvatn Scout Centre.
- We will be renting kitchen equipment for each patrol. The equipment will include a kitchen shelter, a patrol box including a stove, and tables and benches.
- The patrol menu will be available tonight during the meeting! The food at camp will be available ‘grocery store style’ where each patrol will have store credit for the base menu, and additional items will be available to supplement the menu at cost.
- The camp schedule is posted on our website. We will clarify activities when we have further details.
- Camp activities will be separated by age groups!
